NWPC Expands Mineral R&D

09.11.2022

NWPC, a member of Acron Group, has established a mineralogical laboratory featuring equipment for sample preparation and analysis. Mineralogists examine mineral composition of raw material and product specimens and evaluate qualitative and quantitative characteristics of main ore minerals to define material composition of ore and concentrate affecting the beneficiation parameters.

The laboratory uses an Olympus optical microscope and Mineral S7 software, which has a neural module – an additional feature that allows detecting low-reflection minerals and provides capability for software self-learning and development.

Based on the existing model, NWPC specialists in cooperation with the Geological Institute of the Kola Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences created a 3D model of the lower layer of the Oleniy Ruchey deposit. 3D models help classify ores to prevent or identify issues causing disruption of the production process.

Research findings will be used to plan mining operations, streamline ore processing, and improve product quality.
