02/04/2019 | NWPC Trade Union Attends International Conference

On 24–27 January 2019, representatives of NWPC’s primary trade union organization took part in the Barents UNOK 2019 youth trade union conference, held for the first time in the Murmansk region.

This is the second year for Barents UNOK and its first year in Russia. Trade union activists from Norway, Sweden, and Arkhangelsk and Murmansk regions converged in Murmansk, with over one hundred people participating in the four-day event, sharing their experience, finding new ways to cooperate and working to solve issues. A series of workshops focused on the future of the labor market in the Far North and how to retain young specialists.

“This is the second year in a row that NWPC’s trade union has participated in this event. I believe that international experience is important to trade unions and employers as we develop a strategy to engage with young professionals. NWPC provides its workers with a sizeable benefits package. Specialists moving from other regions receive housing, financial assistance for relocation and compensation for traveling expenses for themselves and their family members. We are trying to make our region an even more attractive place to work,” said Elvira Anokhina, Deputy Chairman of NWPC’s trade union.
